It could be a misnomer. I am too old to be your friend. You are too young to match my wits. But still, friends is the correct word, which binds us together.
The day before, was the Children Day. Your day. You had a fun, frolic and rollicking time in the campus. So far, so good!!
Has any one of you have an idea that two cleaners in the D Block had to cart back the number of garbage bags - any guesses!!!
Please believe me, when I say that it was something like 12 bags of garbage in one day - just two of them to handle.
So what, there are the cleaners, their job is that to do cleaning them. What is so great about it? (I can see, some from you grumbling!!).
I do agree. It is their job alright. They are paid for it. They are morally bound by the contract to keep the class rooms clean.
The question is, can we not try to make their job easier? If only all children had bothered to put all garbage into the bins kept in the class, they would have just picked up, collected and thrown all away. Concentrated on "scrubbing" more. But, poor souls, had to slog in each class, collect all, from each floors shift them to ground floor - and then dispose them off. Please spend some time to observe them.
I wish to attach a small article which I read in Hindu, recently in this connection.
Are we worse than than the toddler in our behaviour? Is it not the time to ponder over?
Coudnt agree more with you sir, the ppl at ISM were in a sort of festive mood on that day, but we really need to learn not to get carried away no matter how our mood on the day is. I completely accept the fact that none of us would actually make the effort to dispose of the garbage ourselves. i mean who wants to dirty thier hands, but we could at least try to collect it and pile it up in one corner of the classroom. As far as i kno, quite a few classes had pizza parties in the classrooms and da empty boxes were jus simply strewn across the floor or in sum cases even stuffed up the desk. however i dont deny that my class too had such a party, but our class teacher who wus present wid us throughout made sure we stick to basic ethics.
But i disagree with the comparison made abt us wid toddlers. we cannot be compared with toddlers. Thier behaviour is completely understood and in them lies honesty and innocense and this explains thier stance
while we need to stand and speak up for ourselves and understand that at present our behaviour, is shamefull and we need to improve
With all respect to Col. RVS Mani, i really appreciate the effort put in by the honourable sir. Thanx for identifying our mistake..... ur completely right in stating that it was bad on our part ..... but it was a party season n i m nt sure if i'd actually think of all that. yea, i kno its wrong but thts human nature i suppose. t he simple answer to the question put up by you is :"no, but just to a certain extent, because as long as the classes were concerned we all tried our best to use the bin properly but the field couldn't bbe saved..... so atleast we're somewhere in cleanliness.... thou theres a long way to go."
